Kind Words

Nicole
I just wanted to reach out and thank you again.
Thank you for reaffirming my confidence in midwifery care. Thank you for easing the fears of another terrible experience, and instead replacing it with confidence and a sense of relief that my original experience with home birth was a flaw in the system.
Never in this process did Jared, nor I second guess our choice in having you assist us. We never felt rushed, never felt unimportant or that things were pushed aside. We both agree that you seem to have become like family and can’t thank you enough. Your support, understanding, and compassion will sure to be rivaled by few.
You really did ease all our fears and put concerns to rest. We never left feeling as though our concerns were invalid and unimportant to you. You truly show what prenatal/postpartum care should be like, and we are grateful.
And I do truly feel as though the care that I received was 100% what should’ve happened with my first pregnancy, and although I’ll always have the nagging mom guilt, I do feel different and lighter knowing that I did what was best this time around.
Secretly hope he changes his mind about another baby because I wouldn’t mind having another 6 or so after all of this exhaustion 😂
Also totally cried on the way home after our last visit, so Jared was right
Wish you all the best

Nicole was absolutely amazing from the first phone call she eased all my concerns. Throughout my pregnancy she spent so much time with us and really got to know me and my family. Our home birth was a wonderful experience.

We just wanted to let you know that we really appreciate all you did for us at baby Peter’s birth. It’s reassuring to have a kind, capable midwife on hand! I was thrilled that you gave him to me so fast after he was born —that’s the soonest I’ve ever got to hold one go my babies.

Nicole has been wonderful to work with! My husband and I both feel very supported, understood and encouraged by Nicole - all good things when you're welcoming your first child! :)

We started out like most people do, full of questions with everything to do with birth. We began prenatal care at a local hospital and were well into our 3rd month of care before something didn’t feel right with it all. Our appointments were always rushed with a different practitioner every time. Around that time we met Nicole and attended her natural childbirth class. We learned a lot more about the entire process, both in and out of the hospital. We kept open minds as we continued to do our own research and finish the class, we decided that the rules imposed on us by hospitals strictly to reduce their liability wasn’t for us. We were low-risk and wanted the freedom to choose the method, the tests, the positions for birthing, what interventions to have/not have, and we didn’t want to be guilted or scared into doing something that really wasn’t medically necessary for the convenience of the doctor. I should also say that my wife was most comfortable at home, and hospital settings are the last place that she feels comfortable.
Pre-natal care with Nicole was great. She takes the time to get to know her clients, personally and professionally. She doesn’t use a lot of gadgetry, she uses a personalized relationship with her moms-to-be in order to determine what their form of normal is, and apply it throughout her care. What I also really valued about Nicole is that she absolutely knows her limits. She knows exactly when to order more tests or an ultrasound, just like she knows when it’s time to transport to the hospital if there’s a complication at the birth. I find that’s one of the more important aspects of having a home birth and selecting a practitioner. I trust her completely.
When my wife was going into active labor, Nicole was a phone call away. I was trying to help my wife with contractions, breathing through the pain, and encourage her. Nicole arrived shortly thereafter. At that point, the three of us (the birth assist) were taking shifts giving care and encouragement to my wife as she labored. (I was mostly doing whatever the ladies told me to do.)
After the delivery Nicole an her assistant cleaned up, made sure we were comfortable, cooked for us, answered any last minute questions, and we all parted ways and took some well-deserved naps. The next day Nicole came out to our house for a check up. She also had a lactation consultant come by as part of the package. This was great because there’s a lot more to breastfeeding than you’d inherently think. We learned the importance of the deep latch, and my ladies got the hang of it and were in better spirits. Nicole came out to the house again two days later and at the one week mark too. We didn’t have to leave the house till the 2 week check up.
So think about it: we were in the comfort of our own home from labor till the two week mark when we went to Nicole’s office for that checkup. We got personalized, professional and amazing care from pregnancy till birth and beyond with Nicole. We never felt rushed, she took the time to know us, and she even helped us out with the relationship changes and our growing pains. She has such great insight and such an amazing network of people who can help with prenatal to postpartum care. Things like chiropractic care, lactation consulting, birth class, cloth diaper service, doulas, and so much more—services that you’d never know would be so helpful—they’re all resources that are readily available and believe in empowering and encouraging women to fulfill their calling to be mothers.
So it is safe to say that my wife and I would go through Nicole again, and it’s safe to say that we’d recommend her to anyone who is trying to find some guidance in the journey to parenthood. We love Nicole.
