Evidence-Based Birth Classes

Taught by Paige Eastman Dickinson, CPM, LM
"Over 20 years ago I started my childbirth career as a birth doula, educating and supporting families in hospitals all over the Washington DC area. I decided to become a midwife so I could provide the evidence based care I would want to recive. Being an independent midwife is wonderful but one will always have to consult with, and sometimes transfer care to hospitals. Therefore the need to help with institutional change and improve disparities in care has never left my practice. Over and over again I have witnessed outdated, and sometimes paternalistic care. How could I help families overcome these obstacles and have a better birth? A few years ago I found Evidence Based Birth and have consistently used their tools to educate and encourage families to advocate for the kind of care that best suits them. When Evidence Based Birth came out with a childbirth education program based not only on comprehensive information, but tools to help communication in advocating for an empowering birth, I knew I would become an instructor. I would be honored to help you on your parenting journey; everyone deserves dignity and respect in childbirth!”
